Upma is one of the easiest and fastest thing to cook. Its made of Sooji or Rava which is easily digestible for babies. Upma is more of a mixture but when made with nutritious ingredients it not only tastes awesome but also becomes healthy. Today here we are giving the recipe of one such delicious and healthy upma for babies – CARROT SOOJI UPMA for Babies.

CARROT SOOJI UPMA for Babies

Once you start on solids for babies its good to introduce fruit purees, vegetable purees, moving onto rice cereal, ragi porridge, khichdi, and so on. This is one such recipe helping you to slowly introduce spices and textures to baby. Can be given to 6 months + after introducing basic solids

CARROT SOOJI UPMA for Babies

Delicious CARROT SOOJI UPMA for Babies is a quick and easy to make recipe which can be given to babies above 6 months.

Ingredients

  1. Carrot - 1/2 Grated
  2. Sooji - 1/4 Cup
  3. Turmeric - a pinch
  4. Pepper - a pinch
  5. Ghee - 2 Tbsp
  6. Salt - Optional
  7. Water - 1 cup

Method

  1. In a thick bottomed pan, dry roast the sooji/rava for 5 mins. Take it out to a plate to cool.
  2. To the same pan add ghee. Once hot add carrot and fry it until it is cooked and changes the colour
  3. Now add spices as per your choice. I've used turmeric powder and pepper powder as shown below. Fry it for a minute again until the vegetable absorbs the spices.
  4. Keep ready some hot water and add it to the fried carrot. Now slowly add roasted Rava/Sooji while you keep stirring the mixture. 
  5. Mix well so that no lumps are formed, add salt if you are serving to adults or babies above an year only. Close the lid and simmer for two minutes.
  6. Switch off the flame and keep aside. 
  7. Carrot Sooji Upma is ready to be served
