Chutney Powder with Masoor Dal

Ingredients
- Red Lentil - 1/4 cup
- Peanuts/ Groundnuts - 10
- Urad Dal - 1/4 cup
- Bengal Gram Dal - 1/2 cup
- Sesame Seeds - 2 tbsp (optional)
- Red Chillies - 12 - 15
- Salt as per taste
- Asafoetida – one pinch
- Oil - 2 tsp
Method
- In a frying pan – add Red Lentil and ground nuts. Dry roast these for 3 minutes on medium flame. Keep roasting until its half cooked
- Next, add - sesame seeds and Bengal gram. These don’t need a lot of cooking and hence 1 minute is sufficient
- Remove from flame and transfer content to an open plate. Allow it to cool.
- In the same pan, add oil and red chilies. When red chilies turn fluffy and dark in color, switch off flame and allow this to cool with lentils
- In a mixer jar, add the above-roasted lentils, red chilies, salt, and asafoetida and ground into a coarse mixture.
- Keep this in an airtight jar and use as per convenience
- This can be used an accompaniment to Idli, Dosa or Ghee Rice
