Tapioca is a versatile vegetable that can be used in a variety of courses in a perfect meal, right from salad to dessert it’s a all-rounder and a perfect tasty weight gaining starchy food with high nutrition. With abundant benefits it’s a root vegetable that’s supposed to be consumed only once properly cooked. A gluten-free family lover making its way to the lives of people and kids with gluten allergy it’s available in dry flakes, pearls form as well for use in various dishes as thickening agents.
Tapioca is also called as MarageNasu in Kannada, Maravalli Kilangu in Tamil, and Kappa in Malayalam. I tried to know about the exact word for Tapioca in Hindi, but couldn’t get that. Please comment below and let me know if you have an idea about it.

This can be given to 8 months plus babies without salt. Toddlers, kids, and adults can enjoy this as a Healthy Snack.

Ingredients
- Tapioca – 1 kg
- Temper Oil – 2 tsp
- Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
- Curry Leaves – few
- Dried Red Chilli - 3
- Urad dal – 2 tsp
- Onion – 1 chopped
- Coconut – 2 tbsp grated
Method
- Tapioca is taken and washed cleanly to peel out the outer skin. Chop it into cubes or any desired shape and size.
- Boil the Tapioca cubes in water to get soft and fleshy or pressure cook it for 1 whistle and strain immediately.
- Now add temper oil - 2 tsp, Mustard seeds - 1 tsp, Urad Dal - 2 tsp, few Curry leaves, Red Chilli - 2, Onion - 1 chopped finely and mix it well for the Onion to get golden brown or just cooked. Now add the cooked Tapioca and coconut grated and give a quick stir.
- Once mixed well close lid simmer it to 5 minutes. Serve it to be relished.
- Tapioca Salad is ready to be given to the toddlers and entire family.
Note
- We can add curds and have it directly like a snack as well
- Can be used with rice as a side dish
- Perfect for south Indian breakfast side dishes as well
- Always consume Tapioca once cooked well only

Method of Preparation
