Teething isn’t an easy process for babies or parents. The gum-breaking process while the eruption of teeth can be very painful for the baby leaving her cranky and fussy too. Teething Home Remedies

1. Rub your baby’s gum using a soft washcloth every hour or two.  And massaging with your fingers alongside will soothe the pain.

2. Give frozen spoon, cold fruits, cucumber to bite but ensure to keep cleaning very often. Homemade popsicles can be a better idea too.

3. Rubbing Clove oil helps reduce the pain as they are a natural anesthetic and can make the area numb for a while

4. Teethers can be helpful at this time.

5. Enough rest is needed, stay along cuddle and narrate stories to bring in a little comfort

6. Avoid citrus fruits and any spicy acidic foods.

Breastfeeding while Teething?

Many mothers stop breastfeeding babies during this tough phase. First of all, it is difficult for the baby with teething issues and stopping her favorite food will make it worse. I’m total with you and understand how difficult it is to breastfeed when your baby bites regularly. Trust me it is a phase and I’m giving you a few tips which can be helpful during this tough time

1. Check the latch – Baby must breastfeed with his mouth wide open if not and this way he cannot bite and it’s less painful when he latches only the nipples and bites you.

2. Watch for signs of fullness – Do not feed the baby for a longer duration for when he is full there are chances of biting just as a play or due to pain.

3. Engage your baby – Talk to your baby, sing a song or a story to keep the baby happy.

4. Be positive – Many mothers immediately pull out the nipples and this may cause further pain and are advised to pull in baby close for a few seconds. Also putting the baby down and walking away or hurting the baby in any way is not a good thing.

When to Start Brushing?

Once you start solids just use a washcloth or a soft cotton white cloth to rub and clean the baby’s gums. Post eruption of teeth you can use a finger brush. Initially just start with toothbrushes moistened in the water later add baby-friendly toothpaste not more than grain size. Once your child learns to spit out you can hand over the job to them.

Tips for Healthy Teeth

Baby’s milk teeth will fall for sure but it doesn’t mean we neglect and do not care for them. They can damage the permanent teeth beneath if not cared for well.

1. Avoid sugar completely till a year

2. Discourage the habit of sleeping with the bottle

3. Thumb-sucking post a year can need a call for action

4.  Nutritious food is a must.
