Ingredients
- Ragi / Nachni / Finger Millet – 1 cup
- Dalia / Broken Wheat – 1 cup
- Brown Rice – 1 cup
- Horse Gram – ½ cup
- Green Gram – ½ cup
- Sago – ½ cup
- Masoor Dal – ½ cup
- Moong / Yellow Dal – ½ cup
- Almonds – ½ cup
- Cashew Nuts – ½ cup
- Elaichi – 8-10 pods
- Fried Gram – ½ cup
Method

Keep all the ingredients ready for quick preparation of Sathumavu Health Mix.

Add ragi to a pan and dry roast it for 4-5 minutes until you its well roasted and crispy. Transfer it to a plate and allow it to cool. Repeat the same with Dalia and Brown Rice.

Now let's add pulses and roast them one by one in a similar fashion. To save time you can roast Horsegram, Green Gram, and Sago together as they take almost similar time to roast.

Lets now roast the lentils. I'm using Masoor Dal and Moong Dal here.

Now let's take almonds and cashew nuts and dry roast them one by one. You can later just heat cardamom and fried gram in the same pan and transfer all the ingredients to a plate.

Let's allow all the ingredients to cool down.

Transfer the cooled mixture to cover half of the mixer jar and make a fine powder.

The Sathumavu Health Mix is allowed to cool, sifted and later transferred to an airtight container.

We can store this Sathumavu Health Mix for 6 months and use.

METHOD

Note : Some tips to be aware of while making this Health Mix – Sathu Mavu porridge powder for babies and toddlers.
- Do not use any wet vessel or ladle
- Roast it on medium low flame to ensure it cooks well in and not just roasted outside.
- Observe the color change and do not over-roast it.
- If possible eat and try each ingredient after roasting, to check if its cooked properly. It should be easily bite-able, like roasted peanuts.
- Roasting each ingredient separately is better, to save time you can roast ingredients of same size together, as they would need equal heat and time to get roasted. Avoid this, if unsure.
- Sifting is very important to get rid of coarse or not grounded ingredients.
- To be stored in air-tight container, and can be refrigerated for longer use.
- Dry mixture could be taken to Flour Mill for fine grinding
- Wash the ingredients if necessary
- Cool the mixture completely before grinding.
- Fill half mixer jar and grind well.
