Sooji or Rava Porridge is the easiest and tastiest first food to be offered for babies. Sooj i or Rava is one of the widely used ingredients in Indian Cooking and is surely available as a pantry staple.

As a parent who has introduced Sooji or Rava Porridge to my baby, I can attest to its simplicity and nutritional benefits. In our journey, Sooji Porridge became a go-to option for its ease of preparation and gentle introduction to solid foods. I recall the joy of watching my baby enjoy this tasty porridge, and it quickly became a comforting and nutritious addition to their diet. Personally, I appreciate the versatility of Sooji, and its digestibility makes it a suitable choice for babies starting around 6 months. 

During the baby’s initial growth days, mothers think a lot about their food. It definitely has to be nutritional and must be helpful in the overall development of the baby. A great advantage if it is not too time-consuming for them to prepare isn’t it. Experimenting with different recipes, I found that adding a touch of personal variation made the porridge even more appealing. Ingredients

  1. Sooji - 2 tbsp
  2. Dates Powder - 1 tsp optional
  3. Ghee - ½ tsp
  4. Milk / Water - As needed

Method

  1. Take Rava in a thick bottom pan add a little amount of ghee.
  2.  In a low flame start roasting. Initially while mixing it looks crumbled up, continue roasting it until its golden brown and a good aroma from the Rava and ghee is released.
  3. Now add water or milk as required and continuously keep stirring such that no lumps are left.
  4. For a sweet flavor, you can add Dry dates powder. Alternatively, you can add Cinnamon powder or Elaichi powder and mix well. I have added Dry Dates powder from Tots & Moms Foods or you can make it at home as well.
  5. Keep stirring continuously until it is thickened.
  6. Creamy SoojiRava Porridge is ready to be served

Method of making Sooji or Rava Porridge

1. Take Rava in a thick bottom pan add a little amount of ghee.
