It is rice cooked with pulses or lentils & even vegetables, known as Khichuri in Bengal, Khechidi in Odisha & the rest of India in Khichdi. In Indian culture, it is one of the best first solid foods introduced to babies and a wholesome meal for toddlers, kids & adults as well.

Khichdi is one of the easy, quick, full of nutrition & healthy recipe for growing kids. Spinach or Palak Khichdi is loaded with proteins, energy & vitamins.

Ingredients

  1. Spinach - 10 leaves chopped
  2. Masoor Dal - 2 tbsp
  3. Rice - 1/4 cup
  4. Cumin / Jeera - 1/2 tsp
  5. Pepper powder - 1/2 tsp
  6. Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  7. Garlic - 4-5 nos.
  8. Ghee - 2 tsp
  9. Salt - for 1 Year + only

Method

  1. In a pressure cooker, add ghee, cumin seeds, garlic chopped / paste, chopped spinach
  2. Give it a nice stir
  3. Add all other ingredients and fry for 1 minute
  4. Now add water, close the lid
  5. Wait till 3-4 whistles. Switch off the flame and let the cooker cool
  6. Spinach & Masoor Khichdi is now ready to serve

Method of making SPINACH & MASOOR KHICHDI 

1. In a pressure cooker, add ghee, cumin seeds, garlic chopped / paste, chopped spinach

2. Give it a nice stir

3. Add all other ingredients and fry for 1 minute

4. Now add water, close the lid

5. Wait till 3-4 whistles. Switch off the flame and let the cooker cool

6. Spinach & Masoor Khichdi is now ready to serve
