Is Papaya Safe to Eat During Pregnancy?
Ripe papaya is a must have for Pregnant women as it is rich in potassium needed for neurological development of your baby, helps prevent constipation, rich in immunity boosting vitamins and helps prevent various infections.
Unripe Papaya is recommended to be avoided as it contains a latex substance which may induce early labor. It also contains an enzyme called papain which can act like oxytocin and prostaglandin which are produced by the body during labor. Papain can also weaken membranes around the uterus that may cause early labor. So, if one has to avoid it, it must be Raw papaya only.

Is Pineapple Safe to Eat During Pregnancy?
1 cup of Pineapple consists of 30 mcg of Folate which is a critical nutrient recommended during pregnancy, it is mainly important for development of the baby’s spine. Pineapple is also rich in antioxidants like Vitamin C which can help reduce inflammation during pregnancy.
Pineapple contains an enzyme called bromelain which can lead to diarrhea or cramping or contractions which can be mistaken for labor pain. Excessive consumption can cause heartburn and acid reflux too.
Finally one can understand both the fruits are amazing for one’s overall health, specially during pregnancy.

- Take a bowl of fruit and not in excess, even if you crave for it
