Sagging Breasts : Breast Sagging is the most enquired topic on your social handles. We are a community of parents and I understand most mothers face this issue which they connect to fear of getting old, not looking apt in all clothes, rejection from partner and what not.
This article is about reason, prevention and care of Sagging Breasts which is also called Breast ptosis, but actually more on building confidence around it.

What is a Saggy Breast?

A normal breast the nipples are above or on the line of the curve or fold of the breasts and anything below the curve is called first degree breast ptosis and nipples much lower than the curve and pointing downwards are called Second degree ptosis or a saggy breast.
Reasons for Breast Sagging
During pregnancy breast tissues begin to swell to hold up breast milk once you start lactating and during postpartum while you breastfeed they are mostly heavy with breast milk filled and hence the elasticity decreases and breasts start to sag. Remember not to allow it to impact breastfeeding, as it has nothing to do with Saggy Breasts and it starts during the pregnancy. In fact, breastfeeding will help you safeguard yourself from Breast Cancer.

Other reasons of Breast Sagging are :
- Aging or menopause
- Gravity pull
- Reduced collagen & estrogen production

Prevention & Care :
There is no natural way of getting your breasts back to what they were before, as per lots of studies and hence do not fall into the trap of any businesses that say so. Only surgery can reverse it and at what cost?

Simple recommendations are :
- Proper fitted Bra – During breastfeeding, do not worry about it if you have the luxury of resting at home, only wear it outside. This will not reverse it, but give good shape to your breasts and a freedom to wear your favorite clothing.
- Upper Body Workouts – Breasts are made of fat cells, glandular tissue and ligaments that extend from collarbones. With age we lose the fat in our breasts along with other major changes that happen and exercising will help to build muscle in that area and help make them look firmer and defined.
- Healthy Nutrition & Lifestyle – Everything in our body is majorly dependent on our food and lifestyle and hence avoid junk food and switch to healthy foods. New Moms must ensure to eat wholesome food at any cost. Eat a balanced diet, including lots of fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds and take a good amount of water and sleep well.
- Manage your Weight – Lots of ups and downs in your weight can make the skin around your breasts stretched, reduce elasticity and the option to snap back. Regular workout and a proper diet will surely help you with this.
Last but not the least please do not worry even if you are undergoing this situation. Most of it is societal polishing and we do not remember our elders talking about it when they were young. There is a system being created which makes one conscious, scared and then encash upon their fear by bringing in expensive solutions. So let us all together remember to respect and love our body the way it is, focus on health, happiness and peace.
