Moong Dal Soup or lentil stock is given to babies. WHO recommends no liquids to babies till a year and hence here we are showing the recipe by mixing or blending the lentils with it. It is also good for babies to treat a sore throat or any throat infection. It can also be given to kids or adults suffering from cough or cold. Moong Dal Soup is rich in manganese, iron and dietary fiber, low in saturated fat, has zero cholesterol and has low sugar.

When can we give Moondal Soup / Dal ka Paani for Infants?

Can be given to 6 months +. I have used Prestige Pressure Cooker and  Wonder Chef portable Blender to cook this recipe

Moong Dal Soup for Babies - Daal Ka Paani

To start solids, this is one of the most easiest and nutritious recipe. Can also be well digested by the little tummy

Ingredients

  1. Moong Dal - 2 tbsp
  2. Ghee  - 1 tsp
  3. Turmeric Powder - a pinch
  4. Pepper Powder - a Pinch
  5. Water - 1 Cup

Method

  1. Take 2 tbsp of washed Moong dal in a pan (if you want to pressure cook, this step can be skipped)
  2. Add water and soak for 15 to 20 Minutes (or pressure cook for one whistle)
  3. Now add ghee, turmeric powder and pepper
  4. Stir well and cook for about 10 minutes
  5. It should be cooked till the lentils are soft enough to be mashed easily
  6. Take the cooked mixture and transfer to a blender jar
  7. Blend well to make a fine puree
  8. Moong Dal Soup is now ready
