Beetroot Oats Porridge for Babies and Toddlers

Beetroot Oats Porridge along with ghee is a healthy super nutritious food for babies. Mushy in texture and is likable for the natural taste it gives. It is great for anemic babies and is a wholesome food for babies from 6 months. Beetroot is considered a very nutritious and healthy vegetable as a choice for babies.
Beetroot is rich in Vitamin C, potassium, and Iron. It helps in providing total nourishment to the baby. Also, Oats is a superfood that is a wholesome grain cereal with minerals, vitamins, fiber, and antioxidants. They are thus a good source of energy for your baby. Oats also aid digestion. This superfood combination Beetroot Oats porridge is a nutrition-packed porridge recipe and a well-balanced meal.
If the baby is already introduced to textures, it can be offered as-is. For younger babies, you can puree it if need be. I have used ghee in this porridge, ghee for babies is equally important as any other food. Though the right amount of ghee or clarified butter is very much required in the daily diet.

Beetroot Oats Porridge for Babies and Toddlers

Ingredients
- Ghee - 2 tbsp
- Beetroot - ½ cup grated
- Oats - ¼ cup
- Coconut Sugar - 2 tbsp optional
- Cinnamon powder - little
- Nutmeg - a pinch
Method
- Take grated Beetroot in a thick bottom pan, add ghee along with it.
- Fry for about 2-3 minutes until the raw smell of the beetroot is gone. To this add plain Instant Oats.
- Mix well and continue to cook for about 5 minutes.
- Once it is cooked, add Coconut Sugar or Jaggery powder, both optional. You can buy Coconut Sugar from TOTS AND MOMS Foods. As a sweetener, you can also use Palm Sugar or Dry Dates powder.
- To this add grate, a pinch of fresh Nutmeg powder followed by Cinnamon powder. Adding Nutmeg and Cinnamon powder enhances the taste as well as helps in digestion.
- Mix well, and continue to cook for additional few minutes, until the mixture is cooked well and mushy.
- If the visible consistency is fine transfer it to a serving bowl. Beetroot Oats Porridge is ready to be served.
