Beetroot Peas Pulao for Babies, Toddlers, and Kids

QUICK AND EASY BEETROOT PEAS PULAO - Wholesome Breakfast

Quick and easy beetroot peas pulao recipe for tiffin box, breakfast or brunch. Cherished by toddlers, kids and adults as well.

Ingredients

  1. Rice - 1 cup soaked
  2. Beetroot – 1 grated
  3. Onion – 1
  4. Tomato – 1
  5. Peas – 3/4 cup
  6. Lemon juice – 1 tsp

To grind

  1. Cashewnuts – 20 soaked
  2. Chilly Powder – 1/2 tbsp

To temper

  1. Oil – 1/4 cup
  2. Curry leaves – 1 string
  3. Bay leaf – 2
  4. Cinnamon stick – 1 inch
  5. Star anise – 1
  6. Cashewnuts - 10-15

Method

  1. Soak the cashew nuts and rice in water(separately), before starting to chop/grate other vegetables.
  2. Take Soaked Cashews and Chilly Powder and make a smooth paste.
  3. Take a pan and add oil followed by other ingredients in “To temper".
  4.  Add chopped onion fry till it turns translucent and add grated beetroot and fry until it leaves the raw smell.
  5. Add Beetroot, Peas, Tomato, “To grind” and chopped tomato fry and cook by covering till mushy.
  6. Add soaked rice(soaked about 15-20 minutes) and mix and fry for a minute in the masala vegetable mixture.
  7. Add Water, followed by milk, salt, and lime juice.
  8. Cover and cook on low flame for about 15-20 minutes.
  9.  Add Ghee(optional)
  10. Quick and easy Beetroot Peas Pulao is ready to be served.

Tips :

  • Adding a pinch of salt after the tomato helps it cook well
  • Can be cooked in a Pressure Cooker as well, for 3 whistles.

Method for preparing Beetroot Peas Pulav

1. Soak the cashew nuts and rice in water(separately), before starting to chop/grate other vegetables.

2. Take Soaked Cashews and Chilly Powder and make a smooth paste.

3. Take a pan and add oil followed by other ingredients in “To temper”.

4. Add chopped onion fry till it turns translucent and add grated beetroot and fry until it leaves the raw smell.

5. Add Beetroot, Peas, Tomato, “To grind” and chopped tomato fry and cook by covering till mushy.
