Garlic Pepper Rice is tasty rice prepared in just under 5 minutes and has many medicinal properties. As we include garlic and pepper here, both of which prove to be a natural cure for cough and cold, this garlic pepper rice gives quick relief for the one who’s suffering. This recipe is a traditional one that is given to new or nursing moms to boost breast milk supply and hence making it a lactation-friendly recipe too.

This can be given to babies after 8 months while adjusting the spices as needed. Adding jeera or saunf can be beneficial for nursing moms. For one who’s suffering from cough and cold, this can be served hot. I usually make this with leftover rice as a quick fix dinner and my family loves this a lot.

Ingredients

  1. Rice - 2 cups cooked
  2. Garlic - 10 crushed
  3. Pepper - 10 crushed
  4. Ghee / Oil - 2 tsp
  5. Mustard Seeds - a little
  6. Urad Dal - 1 tsp
  7. Bengal Gram Dal - 1 tsp
  8. Red Chilly - 3

Method

  1. Heat a pan add ghee/oil and add mustard seeds and allow it to splutter. Now add curry leaves followed by bengal gram dal and urad dal. Mix and fry it for a minute. Then add slightly crushed garlic.
  2. Add crushed pepper, make two pieces of each red chilly and add that too. Mix everything together and fry for few seconds.
  3. Now add cooked rice, grated coconut(optional), salt to taste and mix everything.
  4. Cover the rice mixture with a lid and heat it for 2 minutes.
  5. Once done, Garlic Pepper Rice is ready to be served.

Instructions to prepare Garlic Pepper Rice

1. Heat a pan add ghee/oil and add mustard seeds and allow it to splutter. Now add curry leaves followed by bengal gram dal and urad dal. Mix and fry it for a minute. 2. Add crushed pepper, make two pieces of each red chilly and add that too. Mix everything together and fry for few seconds.

3. Now add cooked rice, grated coconut(optional), salt to taste and mix everything.

4. Cover the rice mixture with a lid and heat it for 2 minutes.

5. Once done, Garlic Pepper Rice is ready to be served.
