Can I give my baby Dry Fruits? How to offer & quantity?

Dry Fruits are dehydrated fruits that are dried to make them available throughout the year, following multiple dehydration methods like sun drying or by using specialized dehydrators. These dried fruits are rich in vital nutrients and healthy calories that aid babies and kids growth and development. There are multiple varieties of dry fruits and each comes with individual benefit but overall it is said to be boosting immunity and aiding in healthy weight gain. They also are brain boosters, prevent anemia, promote bone and eye health, improve digestion and help keeping kids energized for their daily activities.

There are variety of Soft Dried Fruits like raisins, apricot, dates, figs(anjeer), all sort of berries, etc. and Hard Dried Fruits like almond, pistachios, cashew nuts, walnuts etc. All these can be introduced post 8 months completion to babies and further lets learn how to offer Dry Fruits to babies.
Multiple ways of feeding Dry Fruits for Babies
1. Soft dried fruits you can start to offer when babies are ready for finger foods, around 8 months if you are following baby led weaning and a little later if not. These are soft and can be had as is or be offered post light mashing or cutting into decent hold-able chunks depending on the dry fruit.
2. Soft dried fruits can also be soaked and then mashed into puree form and added with any porridge for better nutrition and taste. It can also be offered as a puree directly in smaller quantities.
3. Hard dried fruits can be a choking hazard for babies and toddlers until they learn chewing very well. 4. Toddlers who have learnt to chew can have all varieties of dry fruits and nuts as a whole or be mixed with their desserts etc. Roasted dry fruits, soaked almonds, milkshakes with dry fruits, dry fruit paratha are the simplest ways of offering dry fruits to them.
Dry fruits are a heavy food and it is important to offer in smaller quantities. Include multiple varieties of dry fruits throughout the week instead of using the same. And also remember not to overdo it because it is aiding in weight gain, as most people tend to. Variety and moderation are the keys.
Last but not the least do not worry about allergies, as we say in most of the videos according to research, it well advised to introduce all allergens before a year which results in better acceptance by the body at this age. Do consider talking to pediatricians before introducing any foods.
